Work
- Before a patient walks into the room, have reviewed their file for thirty seconds. Main issues are:
(? Private Patient).
? Regular patient
? Where they live –? Same suburb
? What is my plan for today - especially with ongoing issues?
If you can’t work out what needs to be done in thirty seconds,
your previous consultations are too complex.
Especially check test results : know the results :
they don't get time to think about questions to ask.
- When patients are entering your room ------
make eye contact/say their name / smile.
- Be friendly and smile a lot –
easier to keep long-term patients happy than to make new patients happy,
we are just following rules-
not deliberately making anyone else’s life difficult.
- Don’t feel guilty.
- Don't get annoyed. You are the professional.
- When Patient leaves:
Debrief: where did I go wrong? How can I change it next time? (15 seconds): write answer down.
- Difficult to tell people the rules – you need a really large sign directly in front of the patient. Point to sign >>
Please note:
one issue/problem :
per consultation only.
Second issue:
fee of $75.
(I’ll see you back as soon as you have paid for your consultation –
- out the front).
Point to the sign on the wall: just see the staff at the front and then I’ll see you after that.
